Join World Trade Center St. Louis and the Asian American Chamber of Commerce for an update with the Consul General of China, Hong Lei. Learn about US-China trade relations now and how bilateral ties are developing in a new era.

In a significant sign of change in this new era, the China International Import Expo (CIIE) will take place in Shanghai from November 5-10, 2018. China is currently the second largest importer and consumer in the world, with all indications pointing to increased potential for growth in the next five years, estimated at upwards of $10 trillion in goods and services. Enterprises from over 100 countries and regions are expected to participate in the first CIIE. Support activities such as matchmaking meetings, seminars and product releases will be held during the Expo. Speakers

Mr. Hong Lei, Consul General of China in Chicago
Mr. Hong was appointed Consul General in 2016 and has held positions in China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 27 years, including postings in San Francisco and the Netherlands. He previously served as spokesman and deputy director general of the ministry’s department of information and as counselor and division deputy director among other roles.

Mr. Xiaoming Zou, Commercial Counselor, Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Chicago
Mr. Zou was appointed Commercial Counselor at the Counsulate-General of China in Chicago in 2015. He has served in similar roles in Sierra Leone, Uganda and Los Angeles.
