The Past Beneath Our Feet: Thomas Finan’s 20 Years Excavating in Ireland
Presented by Saint Louis University Museum of Art

This exhibit invites you to explore the rich tapestry of human history through the lens of archaeology. From the relics of lost civilizations to the everyday objects of bygone eras, each artifact tells a story of resilience, innovation, and cultural evolution. Through carefully curated displays, we aim to bridge the gap between the past and the present, offering a glimpse into the medieval rural settlements of north Roscommon, Ireland.

At the heart of “The Past Beneath Our Feet” lies a dedication to interpret the artifacts discovered during 23 years of SLU excavations directed by Professor Thomas Finan. By showcasing the significance of archaeological discoveries, we hope to foster a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity and understanding of past cultures.
